Publisher Focus Home Interactive has acquired its first development studio. It became the German Deck13 Interactive.

Deck13 Interactive is responsible for the sci-fi series The Surge in the genre of souls-like.
Both parts of the franchise were published by Focus Home. The companies have been cooperating since 2011, according to the publisher’s press release.
The acquisition of 100% of the studio together with 60 developers and all IP cost the publisher almost $8 million. This is part of the money received by Focus Home in February this year from investors. Then $46 million was invested in it.
The publisher has plans for new deals. The rest of the investment will also go to M&A. Focus Home has announced four new partnerships, including with “well-known international studios”. Their names will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Focus Home Interactive decided to make a deal after a successful financial year. In April, we reported that its annual revenue jumped by 13% to $155 million, and its net profit immediately increased by 64% to $14.5 million in annual terms. The most profitable were new items: World War Z (Saber Interactive), Greedfall (Spiders) and A Plague Tale: Innocence (Asobo Studio).
