The Estonian Clickwork Games are sure that mobile developers underestimate the potential of idle games. The company decided to “update” the genre, making it more attractive, and it has already received $ 1.2 million.
According to Marko Mänd, co-founder and CEO of the studio, idle games are the most unpopular genre among all casual games. Despite the fact that the players are ready to leave money in them.
Clickwork Games is going to add “a unique twist to the familiar casual and midcore mechanics,” as well as “combine them with amazing content.”
Now the company is working on its debut game — tank builder Idle Panzer. It is still in softlonch, but should be released before the end of the year.
The initial funding round was led by the Play Venture Venture fund. Together with him, the money was invested by business angel Joakim Achren (Joakim Achrén), the founder of the Elite Game Developers portal.
It is worth noting that Clickwork Games is the first mobile studio in Estonia, which was supported by specialized gaming investors (according to the studio). She plans to spend the collected funds also on expanding the portfolio of games and strengthening the team. Eric Seufert, a former Wooga and Rovio marketer, has already joined the studio as an adviser.
