Korean developer and publisher Com2us has replenished its portfolio with foreign assets for the first time. The company invested in Out of the Park Developments, a studio from Germany. Under the terms of the deal, the PC franchise of the latter will turn into a mobile one.

The agreement between the companies became known from an email to the press, GamesIndustry reports. According to it, Com2us now owns 100% of OOTP shares. The purchase price remained unknown.

Com2us management plans to make OOTP games a key part of its sports lineup and use the experience of their developers in creating new titles.

For example, one of the disclosed terms of the deal is the future of the Out of the Park Baseball sports franchise. Initially, games of this IP were released only for the computer. However, the Korean company is going to release games of this series for mobile devices. Whether the next parts of the franchise will still be released for PC, or they will be completely mobile is not specified. It is also unclear what will become of the other IP of the German studio — Franchise Hockey Manager.

OOTP is not the first acquisition of a Korean publisher this year. In the summer, Com2us bought an online service for playing go Tygem. But up to this point, the company has never invested in foreign studios. The president of Com2us Kyu Lee states that he is not going to stop there and will continue to work on the development of the international direction.

Com2us is a South Korean corporation specializing in mobile games. Among the studio’s hits is Summoner’s War. The title was released back in 2014, but it continues to earn. By August 2020, the game’s revenue reached $2 billion.
