China’s ByteDance continues to strengthen its gaming business. The company announced that its Nuverse gaming division has acquired Beijing-based studio C4games. The latter is known for the mobile game Red Alert Online.

According to Reuters, the amount of the transaction was not disclosed. However, the takeover will allow ByteDance to strengthen its position and become a direct competitor to another local industrial colossus Tencent.

Recently, ByteDance has been paying a lot of attention to in-game purchases. Among the most recent is the acquisition of Shanghai—based mobile studio Moonton, which developed MOBA Mobile Legends. As a result of the transaction, the company’s valuation amounted to $4 billion. Among other thematic purchases, acquisitions of Nuverse, PixDance and Ohayoo studios were noted.

Also earlier, ByteDance opened a publishing division of Pixmain and its own store Danjuan Gams, which now houses many mobile casual projects.

C4games was founded in 2011. During this time, the studio has released several mobile games, but the most popular of them was Red Alert Online. Note that the title is available only in China, and its publisher was Tencent.
