An esports park will be built in Shanghai, including a stadium for tournaments. NetEase will invest $725 million dollars in the project.

According to Technode, the company has thus doubled its efforts to create a full-fledged esports ecosystem in the country.

Currently, Tencent holds the leading position in the esports market. He succeeds thanks to such disciplines as League of Legends and Honor of Kings. In January, the giant signed a contract with Oriental Sports Center, making it the arena for its tournaments.

NetEase wants to become the same major player in esports and compete with Tencent. To do this, she is building from scratch “the first large stadium for professional esports” in China.

It is no coincidence that the company chose Shanghai for its purposes. The city authorities see it as the future capital of esports. They attract investment in this sector, so several stadiums may appear in Shanghai in the next three to five years.

The report presented at the China Digital Entertainment Congress says that NetEase has already started planning and construction of the first stage of the facility.
