The Swedish Gambling Authority reported on the first three months of 2026. The agency calculated that during this period, the turnover of licensed gambling companies amounted to 6.68 billion Swedish kronor ($720 million). This is an increase of 0.8% compared to the previous year.

It is reported that achieving even a small growth was largely thanks to the online segment, which compensated for declines in other categories.

Specifically, commercial online games, including casinos and sports betting, earned 4.44 billion Swedish kronor ($476 million) for the quarter, which is 3.4% more compared to the beginning of 2025. Revenue from state lotteries and slot machines decreased by 3.4% to 1.27 billion Swedish kronor ($136 million), and revenue in the so-called "socially beneficial games" segment fell by 2.6%, to 863 million Swedish kronor ($93 million). Notably, the latter segment includes games whose proceeds go to social causes.

The regulator also discovered that revenue from land-based establishments, including restaurant casinos, rose by 3.6% to 57 million Swedish kronor ($6 million).

By the end of March 2026, nearly 138,000 Swedish residents officially opted out of gambling and registered themselves in the national register Spelpaus.se. Their number increased by 2.6% compared to December 2025.
