The Finnish Tax Administration is no longer required to treat each spin in online casinos as a separate taxable event. This decision was made by the country's Supreme Administrative Court.
The court's ruling applies to games from operators registered outside the European Economic Area.
According to the decision, taxation should now apply to the income of the gaming session as a whole. However, losses in one session cannot be offset against the profits in another.
The previous approach primarily targeted operators from international jurisdictions like Curaçao, who accepted bets from players in Finland. Currently, the Finnish regulator is preparing to launch a special licensing system for online gambling in the country — it is known that by mid-June, around 50 companies applied for a license.
