Apple will be required to implement a mandatory age verification system for users who wish to make purchases in casino apps from the App Store. This decree was issued by a Brazilian court as part of the case involving Casino Roulette: Roulettist.
In July 2026, Apple was sued by four child protection organizations. They were dissatisfied that minors could download Casino Roulette: Roulettist from the App Store and purchase virtual chips with real money, despite the app's 18+ age rating. The plaintiffs accused Apple of insufficient oversight and called for order in the App Store.
Ultimately, the court sided with the plaintiffs. It gave Apple five days to block downloads of Casino Roulette: Roulettist by children and demanded closer monitoring of downloads and purchases in similar apps.
A fine of 100,000 reals ($19,500) per day is stipulated for non-compliance with the requirements.
