Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, spoke about the reasons for the attacks on schools and other educational institutions. In his opinion, this is largely due to video games and the destructive influence of the Internet. Against this background, the Kremlin again raised the issue of restricting the free demonstration of violent content.Alexander Bastrykin
Bastrykin said this in an interview with TASS.
He believes that today teenagers do not receive a sufficient level of education and culture.
“The Internet, television, social networks have become such a source of education that cultivates violence, indifference to the problems of peers, immorality,” Bastrykin said. — Children should be pulled out of the Internet, and not put them there for budget money.”
Because of this, the head of the RF IC believes, young people are inspired by fictional characters and follow the bad example of bloggers who “commit questionable actions.” “Teenagers are guided by the heroes of computer games who solve problems “simply” by eliminating an opponent,” Bastrykin said.
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, agreed with his words. In his opinion, the restriction of public demonstrations of cruelty and scenes of violence in video games and on TV needs to be discussed.
“It is absolutely proven by psychologists and specialists that, of course, being in access, even not quite wide, for the mass user of frames where violence is shown, the use of this in computer games, provokes a personal reactive state from a psychological point of view,” Peskov said.
The last such tragedy occurred on September 20 at the Perm State National Research University. As a result of the shooting, six people were killed, and more than 40 were injured.
