Rovio has written an open letter to its fans explaining the reasons for removing its old games from the stores. We are talking, first of all, about Angry Birds Classic and Angry Birds Seasons. Due to the increased requests from players, the company will return these projects to Google Play and the App Store in an updated form so that they meet modern standards. The letter was published on the Rovio website on June 22.

The company notes that the old Angry Birds universe games were among the most beloved and downloaded titles in the world, and therefore wants to give users the opportunity to touch them again.

“We have withdrawn these games from circulation without informing you, and thereby let you down. It’s not cool. Believe me, our intentions were pure: we wanted to focus on creating new and better games in order to provide our players with a better experience in the future,” the text of the letter says.

According to Rovio, the old games were developed on outdated engines. That is why it was decided to remove their stores. The company could not recycle them because of work on new projects.

Rovio notes that he can’t just upload these titles back to the stores. She’ll have to recycle them. This is necessary primarily to ensure that the games meet the ever-changing requirements of the platforms.

Thus, these projects will still differ from the original versions. Perhaps we are talking about a kind of remasters of classics. The company has not yet disclosed details and does not name specific dates, promising to share details in the future.

The first Angry Birds (later the Classic prefix was added to it) was released in December 2009. Rovio removed the game from the stores in July 2019. As for Angry Birds Seasons, it was launched in October 2010 and removed in December 2018.
