In China, 武侠乂 (The Swordsmen X) is being prepared for release — a mobile battle royale in a historical setting and with an emphasis on hand-to-hand fighting. As noted by the local press, the game has a chance to become a hit in China. At the moment, 2 million users have already pre-registered in it.
The Chinese edition of GameLook drew attention to the project. In addition to pre-registrations, over 2 million people have subscribed to The Swordsmen X page in the TapTap store.
Now developers are conducting preliminary testing of servers on Android.
Briefly about the game
武侠乂 is a mobile version of the game of the same name, which was released on Steam three years ago under the name The Swordsmen X. This is an action game for 100 people who fight each other on a large map with swords, daggers, bows and other weapons.
As GameLook notes, the original project had a lot of problems due to the inexperience of the developers from DreamGameStudio. As a result, the game received a lot of negative reviews, and this year it was completely lost against the background of the more successful battle royale Naraka: Bladepoint from the Chinese team 24 Entertainment.
Features of The Swordsmen X
- The task of the players is to survive by fighting with other users and avoiding the “poisonous fog” that appears on the map and gradually narrows the area by analogy with other battle royales.
- There is also a drop system for items that land on the battlefield and give players various advantages.
- So far, in The Swordsmen X, nine heroes are available to players, divided into several classes (tanks, supports, archers, etc.). Each of them has a set of active and passive skills.
- Against the background of most mobile battle royales, The Swordsmen X highlights the historical setting. DreamGameStudio took as a basis the period of the Ming Dynasty — the empire that existed in China from the 14th to the 17th centuries.
- One of the main innovations was the resurrection system. After death at an early stage of the match, the player has a chance to get into a special prison and fight a duel with another user for the right to return to the map.
- According to GameLook, the studio has also redesigned many aspects of the original game, improved server performance and fixed numerous bugs.
***
Judging by the first user reviews, 武侠乂 is far from ideal. There are still bugs in it, the game’s physics engine raises questions, and with a long game, the smartphone can get very hot.
The advantages so far are the gameplay itself, beautiful graphics, a system of weapons and characters. As GameLook notes, developers still have time to fix the flaws and turn The Swordsmen X into a potentially big mobile hit. In addition, the interest of Chinese users in the game is still at a high level.
It is still unknown whether the project will be released outside of China.
