Yesterday, during the trial of Epic Games and Apple, expert witness Lorin Hitt shared statistics on paying players in Fortnite. It turned out that 24.2% of battle royale users made purchases in it.

An important caveat: we are talking only about those users who have logged into the game from iOS devices at least once.

The statistics cover the period from January to July 2020. Below is the main thing from it:

  • 75.9% of users have never bought anything in Fortnite;
  • 5.6% of users left money only in the iOS version of the game;
  • 2.8% of users bought both on iOS and on other platforms;
  • 15.8% of users made purchases only outside of iOS.

As marketer Eric Seufert noted on Twitter, Fortnite has shown extremely high results. According to him, in most fritupley projects, the conversion to a paying player does not exceed 10%.

Later during the meeting, another witness, Michael Cragg, shared how much American Fortnite users spent on average. Probably, we are talking about the LTV of the game before its removal from the App Store in August 2020.

According to the table, the owners of consoles became the most generous for Fortnite. Each paying American player with PlayStation 4 brought $97.64 to the authors of the battle royale, a player with Xbox One — $94.12, and a player with Nintendo Switch — $52.26.

There was a significant gap in spending among PC gamers. Windows users spent an average of $51.05, but macOS users spent only $8.78.

Mobile gamers with iOS smartphones left an average of $12.14 in Fortnite. Android users spent the least in the battle royale – $6.62.
