Publisher Kalypso Media, known for the games of the Tropico and Patrician series, announced a price reduction for its titles. Now all new projects of the German company will be sold for $10 cheaper. This was made possible thanks to a significant increase in sales in the “digit”.Kalypso Media announced this on June 11 on its official website.

The company explains this decision by changes in the gaming market. In addition to the growing share of digital sales, they are associated with increased revenue amid the pandemic.

The new policy of the publisher came into force on June 1. With this strategy, Kalypso Media wants to give players the opportunity to save money on buying games.

“Currently, we do not expect this trend to change even after the end of the pandemic. Forfeits buy or stream most of our games in digital format, so it is very likely that sales of physical copies will continue to decline,” explained Simon Hellwig, CEO of the company.

Kalypso Media also notes that the rapid growth of digital sales has reduced production, logistics and distribution costs. If earlier the company sold games for $49.99 on PC and $59.99 on consoles, now all new titles will cost $39.99 and $49.99, respectively.

In particular, this applies to the upcoming release of Disciples: Liberation. Now there is a 15% discount on pre-ordering the game on Steam. In Russia, the publisher’s new titles on PC will cost 1,399 rubles.

Kalypso Media’s solution is especially interesting against the background of an increase in average prices for AAA projects. After the release of a new generation of consoles, publishers began to actively introduce a new standard price tag of $ 70, which caused discontent among players around the world.
