Call of Duty Online is a free—to-play version of the shooter, available exclusively in China. Tencent has decided to stop supporting the game after six years on the market. It is reported that after the servers are closed, players will be offered to transfer accounts to Call of Duty: Mobile. This became known on May 31 on the official Call of Duty Online website.

Among the reasons, the developers call the termination of the agency agreement between Tencent and Activision. The companies did not renew it, and therefore the support of the shooter had to be discontinued.

However, analyst Daniel Ahmad noted that the second reason (and perhaps no less compelling) is falling revenue. From June 1, the registration of new players in Call of Duty Online will be closed, and on August 31, the servers will be completely suspended.

Now the developers offer the project audience to download Call of Duty: Mobile via a special link. Players will be able to link their old account to the mobile version of the shooter, which has been available in China since December last year. Users will also receive special rewards depending on their rank, activity and the amount of money spent in the game.

Call of Duty Online was developed by the Shanghai branch of Activision with the support of Raven Software. The game was officially released in China in 2015 and became the first freeplay project in the Call of Duty series.
