The Quiz RPG from Colopl, one of the main competitors of Butler Puzzle & Dragons in the Japanese market by box office, broke the mark of 26 million installations on May 31.
For comparison, GungHo also recently reported that its “dragons” scored 28 million on May 27. Yes, more, but definitely not for long.
In his blog, Japanese analyst Serkan Toto explains why:
- Quiz RPG is growing much faster than in Puzzle & Dragons. The first took only 18 days to get from 25 million to 26 million installations, the second – 37 days to move from the mark of 27 million downloads to the mark of 28 million;
- In general, the growth dynamics of Puzzle & Dragons is declining, despite the increased presence on TV. This is understandable, given that the game was launched a year earlier than the Quiz RPG.
By the way, the dynamics of the Quiz RPG is amazing: in three months, the game has gained 11 million downloads. However, in terms of revenue, the game still lags behind Puzzle & Dragons, as well as from another giant of the Japanese market, the Monster Strike game.
