Release of the Day: Lamphead

What?

Runner in horror style. Shareware. The game was first released as a paid one – in December 2015. And later there was a fritupley version.

How?

The main character is a big-headed man in a miner’s helmet with a flashlight. He runs with increasing speed along a thin bridge between two dungeons. The player’s task is to prevent the hero from colliding with spikes, bats, circular saws and safely reach the end of the level. To do this, tap on the screen, and then the character flips to the opposite side and runs upside down. And vice versa. This way the character avoids a collision.

There are a couple of interesting finds here. For example, if you find a certain booster, then the hero will form a ghostly double, which, if anything, will save him by disappearing.

The resource in the game is coins. They serve as both hard currency and soft currency. Whether you want to prolong the life of a character who died prematurely, whether to buy boosters – everything is paid for by them.

If for some reason the user does not like the default character, then there are others. In the “skins” department there is a mummy, a Viking, an SS Fuhrer (for some reason in a gas mask), a robot and a couple of other heroes. Access to some characters is opened after a certain level, to others – for money or for Facebook invites. The mummy is sold for cherries – apparently, they were supposed to play the role of hard currency in the game, but buying this character became the only option where they can be applied.

On the way, the player collects batteries. Without them, the character’s lamp will go out. Together with spiders, saws and stalactites, this gives the game a slight survival horror touch – if such an expression can be applied to the runner at all.

Why download it?

To kill ten or fifteen minutes. Well, you never know, you’re stuck in traffic or the couple turned out to be extremely boring, and the match-trishek is already sick.

Cons?

The main disadvantage of this otherwise good game is art. Budget, dull. Colorless. Even taking into account the fact that we agreed to consider the game a horror runner – too lackluster. In the end, the same Badland is quite a horror platformer. However, they are made from the point of view of art is not an example of better quality.
