The Chinese AAA game Black Myth: Wukong is still far from release, but local developers are already copying its visual style. They use someone else’s project to create misleading commercials for their mobile projects.

Analyst Daniel Ahmad drew attention to this. On his Twitter account, he published a commercial for a Chinese mobile game that stylistically resembles Black Myth: Wukong very much.

Ahmad did not specify the name of the project. According to him, the developers are trying to pass it off as a mobile version of Black Myth, although the game itself has nothing to do with the frames shown in the video. Thus, advertising misleads users by using false associations with a project that has not yet been released.

“I am impressed with how this video looks, despite the fact that it is completely fake,” Ahmad writes.

Black Myth: Wukong is an action role—playing game based on the Chinese novel Journey to the West about the adventures of the Monkey King. The game is being developed by Game Science Studio for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and its release is scheduled for 2023.
