Embracer Group wants to perpetuate in history as many titles as possible, released during the entire existence of the video game industry. To do this, the Swedish holding has begun work on the construction of an archive, which will contain a collection of games from different consoles, eras and countries.

Embracer Group announced the ambitious project on its official website. “We continue to replenish the collection with the aim of creating an archive of all video games ever created,” says the video dedicated to the announcement.

The archive itself is located underground, in a “secret hideout” in Karlstad. Now it has already collected more than 50 thousand titles, consoles and game accessories. Embracer Group started implementing the project after the CEO of the holding, Lars Wingefors, decided to give away part of his large-scale collection of games that he had collected since childhood.

At the moment, the oldest copies in the archive are games from the Magnavox Odyssey console, which entered the market in 1972. After the completion of construction and cataloging, the group of companies plans to open public access to some parts of the collection. Part of the archive can be visited in person, and part will also be available digitally.

Embracer Group announced that it is interested in buying or receiving titles from private collections. It is planned that the archive will contain European, American and Japanese editions of the games.

To work on the project, the holding also opened a number of new vacancies, including a game archivist, an operating director and a warehouse and logistics manager.
