Large-scale refands failed to spoil the sales statistics for Cyberpunk 2077. According to CD Projekt estimates, ten days after the release, more than 13 million copies of the title were sold on all platforms.
The Polish studio shared this figure in an announcement for investors. The circulation takes into account digital and physical sales of Cyberpunk 2077 as of December 20. Moreover, this also includes pre-orders (8 million copies, which CD Projekt reported earlier) and a massive refund for dissatisfied players.
According to CD Projekt management, they decided to disclose Cyberpunk 2077 sales because “the report could potentially influence investment-related decisions.” Apparently, the company is trying to convince investors that the game is thriving even despite recent events: the removal of Cyberpunk 2077 from the PS Store and the launch of refands.
Analyst Daniel Ahmad called Cyberpunk 2077 one of the largest launches of premium titles. In his opinion, the circulation of this title has already turned out to be more than at the start of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty series games.
Note that information about the outstanding sales of Cyberpunk 2077 appeared online a week before the official announcement. This was reported last Wednesday by the Italian edition Multiplayer.it with reference to sources close to the studio. That’s just when the portal wrote about 15 million copies sold. Was this drain a mistake, or the Italians did not take into account refands — it is not completely clear.
