The most downloaded games of the month

In October, a lot of titles based on the sensational South Korean TV series “The Squid Game” turned out to be expected in the list of the most downloaded games. At once, five of the eight new products in the top exploited the brand of the show.

However, they were not the leaders in downloads.

The top for Android games, as well as the overall top, was headed by Free Fire MAX from Garena – an expanded version of the Free Fire battle royale. The project was released at the end of September and collected 41.5 million downloads, of which 39.7 million were on Android.

The most downloaded game on iOS was the Chinese version of League of Legends: Wild Rift— It was published in mid-September by Tencent. In October, the game was downloaded 6.8 million times in the App Store.

Now let’s go through the new products in more detail.

456: Survival game

One of the games inspired by the “Squid Game”. It was released on October 9, three weeks after the premiere of the series. Published the YoloGameStudio project.

The 456: Survival game is based on four games in which the characters of the series participated. One of them is called “You drive more quietly — you will go further.” In it, the user must get to the finish line as quickly as possible, but you can only go when the leading doll has its back turned to the players. If the user broke the rules or did not manage to get to the finish line, his character in 456: Survival game dies.

Also in 456: Survival game, you can temporarily cut a figure out of a dalgon candy, pull a rope and cross a glass bridge in which slabs of strong tempered glass alternate with slabs of ordinary glass.

At the end of the month:

  • ranked 2nd in downloads on both platforms — 36.3 million;
  • ranked 2nd in downloads on Google Play — 36.3 million .

Cookie Carver: Life Challenge

Another project based on the “Squid Game”, released on October 9. It was developed by KobGames, and published by Azur Games.

As with 456: Survival game, Cookie Carver: Life Challenge users can play games from the series. But the developers also added another original game to the title. In it, the user has to get through the building, slipping past the guards, and fight with the host of the games.

At the end of the month:

  • ranked 3rd in downloads on both platforms — 25.2 million;
  • ranked 3rd in downloads on Google Play — 25.1 million .

Candy Challenge 3D

The title from Idil Morgul is also based on the “Squid Game”. Some of the Candy Challenge 3D games were in the series, however, users can also play a number of original games. For example, in “tic-tac-toe” on a glass bridge or in a game in which you have to throw wooden darts into colorful holes.

At the end of the month:

  • ranked 5th in downloads on both platforms — 26.8 million;
  • ranked 4th in downloads on Google Play — 20.4 million;
  • ranked 2nd in App Store downloads — 6.4 million .

Yes or No?! — Food Pranks

On September 20, Three Games studio published a project in which the user plays “edible-inedible” on the contrary. According to the plot of the game, the user is sitting in a restaurant with a girl. There are two dishes on their table — edible and not. The character’s girlfriend closes her eyes and tries to guess which of the dishes will eventually remain on the table. The player knows her answer in advance and can choose both the food that matches her answers and the opposite options.

At the end of the month:

  • ranked 8th in downloads on both platforms — 16.9 million;
  • ranked 5th in terms of downloads on Google Play — 16.9 million .

K-Games Challenge

Again, a set of mini-games based on the Korean TV series. The release of this took place on October 2, Supercent was responsible for it. There are two key differences compared to other similar projects here — the conditions of the game with a glass bridge have been slightly changed (the bridge is suspended over a sea teeming with sharks) and a runner level has been added, at the end of which the user must fight with another participant in the competition.

At the end of the month:

  • ranked 5th in App Store downloads — 3.6 million .

Survival Challenge 3D

This game, although it took as a basis the idea of a “Squid Game”, differs significantly from the previous ones. The user is still a participant in competitions in which it is necessary to pass “survival games”. But the games themselves are different. For example, he needs to fight one-on-one with the players.

Survival Challenge 3D was published on October 8 by Osman Senol.

At the end of the month:

  • ranked 8th in terms of downloads in the App Store — 2.8 million .

Retro Bowl

A pixel simulator of American football, which was published back in January 2020 by New Star Games. This October, the game was able to be uploaded to TikTok. Next year it is being prepared for release on the Nintendo Switch.

At the end of the month:

  • ranked 9th in App Store downloads — 2.6 million .

The highest-grossing games of the month

In the box office top this time without significant changes. Genshin Impact is no longer the leader in revenue. In October, PUBG Mobile led the overall top box office, which earned $107.7 million. ODIN: Valhalla Rising (오딘: 발할라 라이이) collected the most money on Android — its revenue reached $53.1 million. The main iOS game of the month was Honor of Kings with revenue of $87.7 million.

Only one novelty managed to break into the box office top — the Chinese version of League of Legends: Wild Rift. She earned $43.5 million in October.

It is also worth noting the success of the Japanese battler Monster Strike (モンスターーーーーーーー). The game hit all three box office tops, earning a total of $71.8 million for the month. The title was released back in 2013.
