Tencent and TiMi Studios have announced a game based on the popular mobile MOBA Honor of Kings. It’s called Honor of Kings: World. It will be an open-world RPG that will be released “on multiple platforms.”
The developers announced the upcoming game on Weibo. They did not name the release date and share a lot of details. Judging by the trailer, Honor of Kings: World users are waiting for battles with various fantastic creatures and traveling on flying whales.
Tencent and TiMi Studios are working on the game together with science fiction writer Liu Cixin (Liu Cixin), known for the novel “The Task of Three Bodies”. It is reported that he has already helped with the plot of Honor of Kings itself, and now he will deal with the entire franchise, including future projects within this IP.
Honor of Kings was released in 2015. Now it is one of the highest-grossing mobile games in the world. As of the end of August 2021, the title’s revenue exceeded $10 billion (Sensor Tower data). Also, Honor of Kings became the first mobile game with the number of daily active users reaching 100 million people.
