Another free course for developers has appeared on the devtodev analytical platform. This time it is dedicated to the basic basics of level design. The curator of the course is Oleg Grachev, a leading level designer at Pixonic.
The course program is divided into three blocks: game level planning, environment design and development process. A total of 13 lectures are planned. They will be conducted by specialists from Pixonic and SunGear Games, as well as independent level designers.
As devtodev notes, the course is designed primarily for novice level designers and game designers. However, it will also be useful for experienced developers who will be able to systematize their knowledge.
Among other things, the course will tell:
- how to look for ideas for levels and adapt them for the game;
- how to design a game space based on the features of the project;
- how to use mechanics to manage user emotions;
- what are the features of multiplayer games;
- what you need to know about building battle scenes;
- how to test titles and fix problems in them.
At the end of the training, participants will have to pass the final test. To register for the course and learn more about it, follow the link.
This is not the first time devtodev has launched educational initiatives. For example, last November, analysts opened a free course on advertising monetization of games, and a month later — the course “How to start a business in game development”. Also at the end of this September, devtodev released a free book about metrics in games.
