The St. Petersburg White Nights session starts in less than a month. As always, the Indie Game Cup competition will be held as part of the conference. What is the meaning of this event and what is the practical benefit of it — one of the winners of the contest told App2Top.

TrilobiteSoft studio participated in the competition within the framework of the Moscow conference White Nights 2016. Team Game — Pig Bang: Slice & Dice — received awards for the best art and the Grand Prix at White Nights Moscow 2016. The results of the victory were shared by Yuri Krasilnikov, Director of Business Development at TrilobiteSoft.

Tell me, please, what did the Indie Game Cup give to the game?

YURI:  The results of the contest for a game called PigBang turned out to be the most rosy. We managed to collect the award for the best art and the Grand Prix. In addition to cups and various “nishtyachki” from sponsors, winning the Cup at the WN carries several more important missions.

The first is that the team that is working on the project certainly gets additional motivation to continue developing the game at the highest level. Artists are certainly pleased to receive an award for the best art. To get ahead of many who applied for the cup, to bypass strong colleagues-nominees. A kind of recognition. It’s the same story about the Grand Prix.

As for the development of the project, there is also something to say thank you for winning the Cup. A decent game that passes through the devices of the jury members attracts attention. Thus, the visibility of the project increases both among industry colleagues and from platforms, potential partners and publishers.

Meetings are not confirmed faster, but are already appointed by those whom you so wanted to “hook up” at the conference.

Does it even make sense to participate in the competition?

YURI:  There is certainly no point for other developers to participate. The fact is that we want all the time of the jury members to be devoted only to our new project.

A joke, of course. In fact, I really want to see a lot of worthy projects from colleagues, communicate with the developers of these games and, perhaps, repeat last year’s success by myself. Therefore, if someone already has a game in the alpha or beta stage, has conducted an internal quality assessment, then I would advise applying for the cup. Submitting an application does not take much time, but you can get a lot of feedback.

There is no need to be shy about showing your game in the early stages. Especially for novice studios.

Are you planning to apply for the Indie Game Cup again?

YURI:  Two of our projects will participate in White Nights St.Petersburg 2017.

One is called Versus. This is turn based online PvP multiplayer fighting, which is in the status of closed beta testing that started the other day. We think he has every chance to attract attention. A very strong team is working on it. Both technically and traditionally in the visual range, the guys are talented.
You can already watch the promo video, with the heat of the heat.

The second one, in order to allow the jury members to feel like children again, is Kids’ Corner, where we have prepared interactive books / cartoons with their favorite characters: Mimics, Fixies. On the way “Masha and the Bear” with horror stories.

Editor’s note: To apply for the Indie Game Cup, you need to fill out a form. The deadline is May 26. In other words, today is the last day when the White Nights team accepts games for the competition.
