Another company decided to engage in blockchain games. Next up is the mobile publisher and developer Jam City. The creators of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery announced the launch of the corresponding division and announced the first NFT game.
The new title is called Champions: Ascension. Its users will have to fight in arenas, collect heroes and equipment, as well as trade on a special platform. The exact release date is not called, but it is assumed that the game will be released in early 2022.
As Jam City promises, in honor of the release of Champions: Ascension, it will release 10 thousand exclusive NFTs called Prime Eternals. It will grant special privileges to the owners of these tokens. For example, gamers will get early access to the game, get unique equipment and will be able to communicate directly with developers in Discord, sharing recommendations for the development of the game.
As for the entire blockchain division, at first it will develop only browser titles (Champions: Ascension will also be available exclusively through the browser for now). In the future, the division will also deal with NFT games for smartphones. Whether it will make games for other platforms is not specified.
According to Chris DeWolfe, co—founder and CEO of Jam City, games with NFT are the company’s first step towards creating a metaverse.
Jam City opened in 2010 under the leadership of one of the founders of MySpace. Among the company’s most famous projects are Cookie Jam, Panda Pop and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. In early September, she bought the Montreal studio Ludia, the creator of games in the Jurassic World universe, for $ 165 million.
