GSC Game World announced its decision tonight.

Dear stalkers, we hear you. We have decided to cancel everything related to NFT in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. The interests of fans and players are the most important thing for our team. We are working on a game that should bring you pleasure — no matter what it costs us. What is important to you is important to us.

That’s just it wasn’t the only statement of the developers overnight. Shortly before GSC Game World announced the cancellation of NFT plans, she published another post (at least on English-language Twitter). In it, she explained why she decided to add non-interchangeable tokens to the game. The studio later deleted this recording.

GSC Game World is an independent development studio. We don't have a publisher, but we have great partners, an incredible team and a dream to create a game that you will love. Like all developers, we need two resources — time and money.

From the company's deleted statement

According to GSC Game World, she was going to spend the money earned with NFT on improving S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

In addition, the developers wanted to “make NFT right”. Some of the shooter’s fans would be able to get inside the game, while it would not affect the rest of the gamers in any way. The tokens received would not affect either the plot or the gameplay.

Deleted application
Recall that initially the studio planned that users would be able to get NFT before the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. The start of token sales was supposed to begin in January 2022 on the DMarket platform.

Every NFT owner in the game could become a highly detailed “meta-human” inside the shooter. Also, the names of the buyers would appear on some walls, tables and cabinets in the game.

The release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will take place on April 28, 2022 on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
