The Venturebeat resource conducted a study of the mobile analytics market, during which it found out: despite the fact that Google Analytics and Flurry are the choice of the majority, applications with the highest ratings rely not only on them.
Google Analytics is the most popular service on Android (90% of respondents use it), and Flurry is on iOS (36%). However, only a third of developers named them their main analytical services.
Most mobile publishers and developers use multiple resources at the same time.
The study revealed an interesting pattern: almost a third of the top apps on both iOS and Android use Tune’s MobileAppTracking and Kochava services.
For example, Big Fish Casino (fourth place in the top cash games on iOS) — uses Flurry, TestFlight, BugSense, Tune and Kochava at the same time. Racing Rivals (13th place in the top box office games on Google Play) – Google Analytics, Flurry, BugSense, Tune and Amazon Insights.
Statistics on Tune’s MobileAppTracking are as follows: of the Android applications studied, only 0.2% use it. But out of the box office Top 20 Google Play uses the services of the service – 7 applications. It’s the same on iOS. Only 2% of the total number of applications use the service. But out of the top 20 games in the App Store, Tune’s MobileAppTracking is used by as many as 8, including Hay Day and Clash of Clans.
According to Kochava, the statistics are even more interesting: on average, the ratings of applications that use the service are 14.2% higher than those who do not use it.
Summing up, Venturebeat advises: you do not need to rely only on one or two of the most popular analytical services. You need to choose at least three, depending on which aspect of the application – monetization, engagement, user experience, and so on – interests you the most.
We add that 1.8 million applications with a total MAU of more than 250 million were studied for the study.
