There are a couple of weeks left until the end of the year. Against this background, MY.GAMES conducted a large-scale study and found out what 2020 was for Russian gamers. Spoiler: basically, the year was rated a “three”.
In total, 53 thousand PC players from 15 regions of Russia participated in the study. Here’s what they told:
- 2020 did not suit the majority of gamers. 32% of respondents put the year “one”, another 17% — “two”, and 23% — “three”. As a result, the average score on a five-point scale for the past 12 months was 2.6 points;
- most often, players called the outgoing year “disappointing” (29%), “terrible” (28%) and “sad” (19%);
- in addition, 34% of respondents noted that nothing positive had happened to them during this time;
- at the same time, every fifth gamer considered 2020 to be “unforgettable” in its own way, and someone even “full of new opportunities”;
- almost a quarter of the players (20%) said that they were finally able to find more time for themselves and their hobbies;
- in 2020, gamers began to work more (22%), sleep more (20%), and watch movies and TV series (18%);
- gamers also began to play a little more often — 30% of respondents told about it at once. On average, they got about half an hour extra;
- moreover, 48% of Russian players decided to try new genres for themselves this year. The top 3 new genres included shooters (50%), RPG (30%) and MMORPG (28%). But collectible card games (8%) and life simulators (13%) practically did not interest PC gamers.
