What indicators in terms of user engagement should you look up to if you are developing an idler,” GameAnalytics said in its latest small study.Recall that idle is a genre derived from the clicker, in which the role of constant taps on the screen to accumulate resources is reduced to a minimum.
In the first place comes the work with tools that automatically produce these resources.
A new surge of interest in “idlers” occurred at the same time as the dawn of the hyper-casual direction. Today, a common scenario is when one publisher tries himself in both niches. For these two reasons, these genres are often compared with each other.
At least, this is the path taken by GameAnalytics specialists. They compared the behavior of users “on average in the hospital” in both directions.
- The “stickiness” (DAU/MAU*100%) of idle game users is about 18%. For comparison, in hypercausal titles, this indicator is much less — 10.5%.The average number of daily sessions in idle games is 5.3 (for hyper-casual projects — 4.6).
- They also usually have longer sessions themselves.The ARPDAU indicator for idle games is nine times higher than the indicators of hypercausal titles.
- Analysts also told how users behave in the top games of the idle genre:
- retention of the first day is 45.55% for 10% of the most successful idle games;retention of the first day is 39.4% in 25% of the most successful idle games;
- 34.92 minutes are spent on the game per day in 10% of the top games of the genre;
- 21 minutes are spent on the game per day in 25% of the top games of the genre;
- the average number of sessions per day is 5.82 for 10% of the most successful idlers;
- the average number of sessions per day is 5.03 for 25%;
- the average length of one session is 7 minutes for 10% of hits;
- the average length of one session is 6 minutes for 25% of the best games of the genre.
- On the last metric (average length of one session)
GameAnalytics asks you to pay special attention. Among all mobile genres, idlers are distinguished by long sessions. We can say that this is one of the key metrics for evaluating projects within a niche.
