In October, mobile games based on the Korean TV series “The Squid Game” were among the most downloaded. However, since then, the hype around them has subsided. According to AppMagic analysts, the number of downloads of such titles decreased by 2.7 times.

The series “The Squid Game” was released on Netflix on September 17 and by mid—October became the most popular in the history of the platform – 142 million people watched it in a month.
It is not surprising that mobile developers decided to take advantage of the success of the show. According to AppMagic, there are 842 apps inspired by the “Squid Game” on Google Play and the App Store. That’s just almost half of them (419 titles) have not attracted a single new user in the last few weeks. According to analysts, studios may have had to close a number of their projects.
Most of the games based on the series appeared in stores in early October. The peak in the number of releases occurred about three weeks after the premiere of “The Squid Game”, when 40 games based on the show could be released per day. But by mid-November, no more than a couple of new games began to appear daily.

The number of downloads has also decreased.
If at the peak in mid-October, games on the Korean TV series totaled over 11 million downloads every day, now they generate only about 4 million downloads. Nevertheless, this is still quite a lot considering that fresh games in such a subject have almost stopped coming out. This also did not prevent titles like Octopus Games, K-Sniper Challenge 3D and Cookie Carver from entering the top of the most downloaded games for November.
The volume of daily downloads of mobile games based on the series
AppMagic did not share information about how many downloads the games exploiting the brand of the show managed to collect.
But analysts pointed out that in the period from October 1 to November 22, the five largest titles were downloaded a total of 147.58 million times. We are talking about 456 games: Survival Game, Cookie Carver, Candy Challenge 3D, Octopus Games and K-Sniper Challenge 3D.
