The studio Ballistic Moon, which developed the remake of Until Dawn, is "effectively closed," according to sources from Insider Gaming. The portal reports that there is almost no staff left in the company.

Developers of the Until Dawn remake laid off almost all employees

Ballistic Moon underwent its first major wave of layoffs in September 2024. At that time, the studio publicly confirmed the reductions but spared the details. Insider Gaming discovered that about 40 people left Ballistic Moon in the fall, and the remaining employees worked on supporting the remake of Until Dawn, but they could not keep their jobs for long either.

It is reported that the second wave of layoffs hit Ballistic Moon in December. Only the studio's founders and a "handful" of specialists, none of whom were involved in development, marketing, or PR teams, survived it. Currently, there is no one in the studio working on patches for the Until Dawn remake.

Insider Gaming sources noted that Ballistic Moon's management tried to avoid such a development and preserve the studio's life. They actively sought funding and pitched new projects, but unsuccessfully.

"After the game's [Until Dawn remake] release, Sony mentioned that they might provide additional funds for updates, but it seems this did not happen," added one of the portal's sources.

Ballistic Moon has not commented on the information from Insider Gaming.
