Almost half of users are willing to pay monthly for a subscription to their favorite app, according to a survey conducted by mobile software development company Branchfire.
The results of a study conducted by a Chicago-based company showed the following:
- 49% of users are willing to pay for a monthly subscription;
- 48% of respondents named an acceptable price for an application from $25 or less;
- 31% are willing to pay $10;
- 2% claim that they will pay more than $25 per month for the app.
At the same time, 37% of respondents have already subscribed to the application, which implies monthly payments, and 57% said they have never paid for the application.
Among those who already pay for a monthly subscription, the votes were distributed as follows:
- 57% pay for online streaming of channels or movies;
- 30% – for using your favorite game;
- 27% – for the opportunity to listen to music in an online broadcast;
- 25% – for news resources or online magazines;
- 11% – for business applications.
Summing up, the compilers of the survey claim that users would rather pay a small amount of money than see ads in their application. The report data, according to Branchfire, should force developers to reconsider the monetization model of their product.
The study was conducted among 2,042 users aged 18 and older; 1,298 of them were owners of a smartphone or tablet.
